Doughnuts for everyone…Vegans, too!

Doughuts need to be a food group…I will never stop lobbying for that to happen. They are just one of the greatest things in the world!

If you follow this blog, you know I recently finished up a 21 day detox called The Ultimate Reset. It was challenging in many ways, but I was determined to complete it and decide if I wanted to pursue a lifestyle that leaned more toward vegan/vegetarian. There are many aspects of being vegan/vegetarian that have interested me over the past year; however, I’m a hardcore carnivore so I wasn’t sure if I would be able to make the change.

I’m still debating….although I am leaning more toward just cutting out SOME of the animal products and making my diet more 80% plant based and 20% animal product. Time will tell.

Shortly after I started the Reset, I connected with the owners of The Vegan Doughnut Company,  a local company that was just starting out on a quest to share their vegan doughnuts with the Cleveland area. As a huge supporter of local businesses AND doughnuts, I just HAD to check this company out and share with all of you, so I accepted their invitation to attend a doughnut tasting a few days later. I didn’t care that it fell in the middle of my reset….the doughnut tasting was happening, and I was pumped about it.

Since The Vegan Doughnut Company is a newer company, they do not have their own brick and mortar building yet……so the tasting was held at Kitchen 216 in downtown Cleveland, and awesome space perfect for the event. There were two tasting times, one at 10am and one at 11am….and knowing how I’m not a huge morning person, I naturally opted for the 11am timeframe. I wasn’t sure how many doughnuts I would be able to try since I had been on my restricted meal plan…fortunately my friends Julie and Erica attended the same session. I knew between the three of us no doughnut would go untouched!

Before I share a little about the doughnuts, let me give you a little scoop on this company as told to me by owners Kyra and Kharisma!

-When and why did you start the Vegan Doughnut Company?
The Vegan Doughnut Company started back in November of 2016 but was publicly announced just a month ago. We absolutely love doughnuts but couldn’t find vegan doughnuts. Plus we always wanted to own a business together that involved what we loved, which is veganism.

-What did you do before you started making doughnuts?
Kyra: Sophomore Mechanical Engineering Student at CSU and Intern at Dominion East Ohio.
Kharisma: Laboratory Supply Coordinator for University Hospitals.
We currently still have our jobs.

-Where can individuals buy your doughnuts?
Right now, we do orders minimum of 1/2 Dozen and The Cute Little Cake Shop on select Saturday’s

-Do you do special orders?
Yes we do special orders. Anything can be done with a doughnut. Anything from letters to unicorns.

-What is your favorite doughnut?
Kyra: Vanilla icing with Sprinkles
Kharisma: Glazed chocolate cake

-Do you partner with any local businesses for ingredients?
Not currently but we would love to in the future.

-Did you complete any formal training/where did you learn to bake?
Honestly, we both learned the bulk of our cooking in high school home economics. Also, watching our parents when we were younger. That’s where we feel in love with cooking…..we had to learn to make our favorite food in vegan versions.

-What made you want to bake doughnuts instead of other vegan items?
Everyone makes cupcakes and cookies. We like to be different.

The talented owners of The Vegan Doughnut Company

The doughnut tasting was pretty neat…..and I can honestly say I didn’t know what to expect since I had never been to one before. We arrived at Kitchen 216 and were given score cards to rate the flavors. Since The Vegan Doughnut Company is a newer business, they were eager to learn what kind of doughnuts we the people liked, so we got to try one doughnut hole in each flavor. Give me all the doughnuts! Angels were singing to me….it was that glorious.

Screen Shot 2017-05-04 at 7.59.34 PM

Oh, hello you attractive little babes.

The flavors ranged from Vanilla Sprinkled to Chocolate Cherry to Chocolate Glazed to Hibiscus to Oreo…..I almost didn’t want to eat them because they were so cute in my little tray. However, we all know me so you know I did.

My favorite? It’s a tie between the Maple Bacon, the Hibiscus, and the Oreo. The only one I didn’t like was the Lavendar doughnut, and that’s because I associate lavender with my baths……it is the scent of one of my favorite Lush bath bombs! They were all so tasty and had a great consistency….sometimes with vegan baked goods they taste a little off, but not these doughnuts.

Want to score yourself some of these delicious vegan treats? The Vegan Doughnut Company will be at The Cleveland Flea May 13th (more dates to come depending on how well they do…it’s their first Flea!) You can also catch them at the Cleveland Bazaar May 20th, July 1st, Sept. 16th, and Oct. 7th.

Don’t forget about Social Media!!!! Like this local business on Facebook by clicking HERE!  This way you won’t miss anything regarding upcoming pop up shops or news regarding their business!

Kyra and Kharisma, thanks for having me at your doughnut tasting! And please know I am ALWAYS available to sample doughnuts!

Is there a job out there as a professional doughnut taste tester???? Because this girl right here would really do well with that…..just saying’.

Need some Energy?

I’m a huge fan of energy bites….I have so many recipes I could share!

I wanted to share the one I make the most…it’s so easy, quick, and delicious! Plus it’s versatile…so feel free to omit or add something to change it up!

Ingredients:

-1/2 cup natural peanut butter

-1 cup oats

-1/3 cup honey or agave

-6 tablespoons dark chocolate chips

-1 tsp vanilla

-2/3 cups shredded coconut

-1/4 cup chia seeds

Combine everything in a bowl (using your hands is best) and place covered in fridge for about an hour. Then roll into bite sized balls and keep stored in fridge for up to a week.

Enjoy!

Tacos are Life.

Guys, my love for tacos….it is a deep, deep love. They are right up there with pizza when it comes to my favorite foods.

One thing I pride myself on is finding a way to balance the things I love with living a healthy life. This is so so so important! No lifestyle should have you completely eliminating everything you love; that is just setting you up for failure.

Tacos are one of those foods that YOU have the power to make healthy. I brown ground beef all the time and use a taco seasoning (my favorite is the Southwestern mix from the 21 Day Fix plan) and serve on healthy taco salads, as tacos, or, in this case, as taco cups!

screen-shot-2017-01-19-at-8-33-59-pm

Super easy….super quick…super delicious.

Here are a few ways you can make your tacos a little healthier:

1. Use corn tortillas. These are actually gluten free and a tasty alternative.

2. Swap out sour cream and use Greek yogurt instead.

3. Utilize ingredients such as black beans and corn.

4. Opt for cheese that is grassfed…stay away from the bagged shredded cheese! Do you know that bagged cheese includes powdered wood pulp (on the bag it says CELLULOSE), which prevents it from clumping? Gross! If you can’t find grassfed, buy a block of cheese and grate it yourself. Wood pulp doesn’t fit into any meal plan….sorry to break the news.

5. Use lettuce as a taco shell or top with as much lettuce as you can!

This week’s meal plan featured my incredibly easy and delicious taco cup recipe, and I had to share for my fellow taco lovers! This is a recipe that is great for kids and adults, can be easily transported, and can also serve as a great, healthy appetizer for events.

                                                           Katie’s Taco Cups

What you need:

-Corn tortillas
-Ground turkey or beef
-Taco Seasoning or Fix Southwest Seasoning
-Greek yogurt
-Guacamole
-Cheese

What you need to do:

Coat a muffin tin (or two depending on how many you are making) with coconut oil or nonstick cooking spray.

Brown the meat and mix in the taco seasoning, just as if you were making regular tacos.

Cut the tortillas into squares. (I take the excess and make homemade cinnamon chips with them to pair with fruit salsa….I can share that recipe later!) Place one square in each muffin cup, spooning some of the meat mixture into each cup. I use between 1-2 tablespoons in each. Top with a sprinkle of cheese. If you prefer, you can top with chess AFTER baking; it’s up to you!

screen-shot-2017-01-19-at-8-33-40-pm

Ready for some cheese!

Bake at 375 for about 20 minutes…but keep an eye on them. Every oven is different!

screen-shot-2017-01-19-at-8-33-50-pm

Watch your shells…no one likes a burnt taco!

Top your taco cups with whatever you want….I use a small dollop of greek yogurt and another of guacamole!

If you are following the fix meal plan, I usually count three cups as one serving, but it all depends how much meat you are using.

Store in fridge and heat before serving! Enjoy!

Hope you love them!

Beast Up Cleveland!

This weekend you guys….what a wicked awesome time!!!!

If you follow me on Snapchat, Facebook, or Instagram, you knew this weekend wasn’t just any old Saturday and Sunday combo….it was the weekend we brought Sagi Kalev aka The Beast to Cleveland! I’ve been waiting for this weekend for months!

I was very lucky to have been asked earlier last year to join the Cleveland Market Council, a group of amazing women who head up all of the Beachbody community events for Northeastern Ohio, and I was excited when we decided to try to bring a Beachbody super trainer to the area. Since most of us are relatively new to the council, we really wanted to start the year with a bang and impact as many people as we possibly could. During our discussion it was a no brainer that we absolutely had to bring Sagi to town…..so we got to work!

After securing Sagi we locked down the most historical venue in all of Cleveland, The Agora, known for hosting the best of the best, including Elvis, The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, ZZ Top, and Peter Frampton, but also features many local acts. Those who haven’t been to The Agora before…it’s hard to describe. It has an industrial feel to it….a little grunge…a little rock and roll….a whole bunch of character. I’ve seen many shows there throughout the years and always thought it was a cool place, and we all agreed it would be a great way to show off the historic side of Cleveland.

screen-shot-2017-01-17-at-4-38-28-pm

In every group of friends, there is a tall tree. Somehow it is always me.

So what all went on during the weekend?

FRIDAY

The council and I had a private dinner with Sagi and Barbie, a Superstar Diamond Beachbody coach who just happens to be Sagi’s wife. We had a private dining room at Adega, an incredible restaurant located in the best hotel in Cleveland, Metropolitan on the 9. You may remember me mentioning this spot before…we had our wedding photos taken throughout it because we loved the vibe (our best’s man Aunt and Uncle own it, so they hooked us up), and both Kyle and I had our bachelor/bachelorette parties there. If you travel to Cleveland, that’s where you have to stay….it’s the best hotel in the city.

Dinner was great…we had the chance to really get to know this man who most only knew to be a tough meathead from the workout programs Body Beast and Master’s Hammer and Chisel. It was amazing to hear him talk about various nutritional things…he actually is a clinical nutritionist…and just to see how real and down to Earth he was. I had the Shrimp and Chorizo Flatbread…try it…it’s so good! (For those of you who wondered…Sagi had a steak.) As far as attire goes, I rocked a black lace back jumpsuit that I am obsessed with….it can be glammed up or down…and paired it with red suede heels, a red clutch, and red lips!

SATURDAY

I was driving the struggle bus HARD Saturday morning, but there wasn’t a chance in hell that I was going to miss a moment of the day’s events. I left my house a little after 6am after only catching about 2 hours of sleep, hunted down the biggest coffee I could find, and started to search The Agora for a coffee IV drip I never found. The staff at The Agora was fantastic, which meant that the initial set up went very smoothly.

screen-shot-2017-01-17-at-7-41-15-pm

A few of my amazing coaches! I love this team!

The day was jam packed! Here’s how the day broke down!

9am: Fifty people were able to be a part of a VIP experience with Sagi where he interacted with them all and discussed personal development. Personal Development is huge in our business, and Sagi is such a motivating person that I think everyone walked away feeling enlightened. At the end of the session everyone got a photo with Sagi.

10:30am: Barbie came out and addressed the audience. Those who don’t know about the ranks in Beachbody, a Superstar Diamond is the highest rank you can achieve, and this is what Barbie is. Her knowledge…her passion….I had no idea how strong of a coach she is. I feel so honored to have met her and to have learned from her.

screen-shot-2017-01-17-at-7-50-03-pm

Barbie and I backstage

11-12:15pm: Sagi took the stage to address the crowd. He has such a great story and so much valuable content to share….he could’ve talked for hours and hours! I wrote down so many notes!

12:45pm-1:30pm: Sagi led a workout for all attendees. I personally didnt participate and spent the workout running around capturing pics and video, but I do know my team mentioned how brutal it was…their legs were on fire!

1:30-2:15pm: Prize giveaway! Sagi and Barbie were so generous and gave away so many great prizes! Attendees won hats, water bottles, watches, autographed posters…and a handful won his book.

Overall the event was a huge success. Our only glitch was that The Agora had some issues with the boilers, so it was a little chilly in the venue. That was eliminated once the workout began though!

Here’s a little recap of the event from my perspective:

Look like fun? The Market Council hosts events every quarter. This has been the biggest to date, but we have big plans to bring other celebrity trainers to the area as well as top coaches full of valuable info. These events aren’t just for coaches….anyone who loves fitness and health can benefit! I’d love for you to join us next time!

Make your mark on this world…..maybe it’s on a wall. Maybe it’s by inspiring someone. Maybe it’s doing a good deed. Regardless, make it.

Have a week full of sparkle, friends!

November : Sparkle or Dull?

Guys!

This Sparkle or Dull blog….what a headache it has been! The month is nearly over!

I had gotten quite a few requests to review a certain product, and it took me nearly 8 weeks to receive it! Apparently my package got lost in the mail not once, but TWICE, but it finally arrived two days ago, so I jumped right to the review. I was assured that is not the norm with the company’s shipping….so if you order from the same site I share below, don’t fret! Since I was hell bent on reviewing the item AND I don’t do a December Sparkle or Dull (I do a wrap up of some of my favorite finds instead), I had to wait to try the product out before posting!

Product #1: Pantene Pro-V Root Reboot Dry Shampoo

First of all, this isn’t the item I was waiting on…..this you can find at any drugstore, Wal-Mart, Target, etc.

I recently was reading a Cosmopolitan magazine (Yes, I still like to read them) and stumbled across a list of their best beauty finds of the year. I disagreed with most of them (shocker), but I was intrigued when they named this Pantene product as the best dry shampoo.

Screen Shot 2016-12-19 at 11.46.22 AM.jpg
You guys all know how I feel about dry shampoo….I wash my hair about once every two weeks so I rely on a quality dry shampoo to save me the other days. I have been having a love affair with Batiste dry shampoo for quite some time and did not have any desire to cheat on it….but thought just trying out this product would be ok. Who knows, I may love it more!

For starters, they aren’t far off in price. The Pantene product was about $6 at CVS when I snagged it, and Batiste is usually about $8. I always take advantage of the Buy 1, Get one 1/2 off sale on that, and when you pair with a coupon at Ulta it actually ends up being cheaper.

The point of dry shampoo is obviously to suck up the grease or nastiness hanging out in your hair, and Batiste does that incredibly well. When I tried this Root Reboot…..I did not think the same. At first it felt similar to the Batiste, but after I used my token hairdryer trick, I realized my hair still looked greasy and gross. The only benefit to it: It smelled nice, but then again, so does Batiste, and I have options for scents with that one.

This may be a better product for baby fine hair? I’m not sure, but to be named Best Dry Shampoo of the year by Cosmo SOMEONE had to like it…just not sure what hair type that person had. I let one of my pals with finer hair take it and am waiting back for a report from her.

Final Verdict: DULL.

Product #2: Max Makeup Cherimoya Lip Tattoo

Ok….this is the item I waited and waited and waited for!

screen-shot-2016-12-19-at-12-19-51-pm
Couple of things to talk about first…..I’ve been completely skeptical of these kinds of products since they hit the market. I mean….you put something on your lips, let it harden, peel it off, and the color stays? Yeah right. There are so many different kinds of lip tattoos out there (the one I got was temporarily sold out when I visited the site to link it for this blog) that I had a difficult time narrowing down what one to try. Honestly, I just went with the first one that popped up, and I have tried Cherimoya items before with success, so I figured it was a good option.

This definitely deserved a full video review so this blog is turning into a mini vlog.

My pieces of advice just to recap some of the things in the video:

1. Always look at the before and AFTER color swatches before purchasing…they will be different.

2. Use a lip brush to apply product evenly.

3. Make sure it is completely dried before peeling.

4. Be careful…it will dye your hands, clothes, etc.

5. I recommend exfoliating before use!

Definitely glad I gave this a chance and am excited to try more colors!

Final Verdict: SPARKLE!!!!

If you try a different brand, share your experience with me! I want to know what everyone likes when it comes to similar products!

Places to Visit: All Good Things!

Things I like: eating healthy and supporting small businesses.

Living near two major cities, I have never had an issue finding great local joints that are full of healthy options or that cater specifically to a vegan/organic/non gmo kind of lifestyle. The people of Cleveland and Akron have lots of options, and I love it.

The problem has never been finding healthy options on the go here….it’s when I go back to visit my family in Columbiana County when I struggle. Lucky for me my mother stumbled across a relatively new restaurant, All Good Things, not far from her house and suggested we visit. Since her initial suggestion I have visited All Good Things every single time I have been home, some visited two or three times. I guess you can say I like it a little bit…..

screen-shot-2016-12-06-at-6-02-42-pm

Enjoying a little Pumpkin Nice Cream to go!

One thing that I realized after visiting AGT for the first time was that this restaurant was practically in my mother’s back yard and had been there for awhile….and I had no clue that it existed! Instantly I began sharing my experience there with my local friends who I knew would enjoy the menu and items that were available to purchase, but I wanted to write a quick blog on the restaurant for those of you who are local and don’t know much about this diamond in the ruff local spot!

All Good Things owners Melissa and Quinn

Owner Quinn Colella answered some questions I had about how All Good Things came to be!

What inspired you to open All Good Things?
Quinn: Years before the conception of All Good Things, we were both into eating clean and high quality food. We enjoyed supporting small, local farmers and would frequent the farmer’s markets on weekends whenever we could. I also spent a couple years on an organic vegetable farm learning the in and outs of farm life. We opened All Good Things in November of 2013 in hopes to fill the void of local and organic food options for our surrounding community. Since then, we have listened to the demand of our customers and have grown into a place for not only groceries, but also a place to stop for lunch and dinner.

How do you determine what items to add to the menu?
Quinn: With the adjustments on our menu we take into consideration a variety of scenarios. We have plenty of individuals who are new to organics, people who are gluten free, vegan, vegetarian and so on. We take all of our customers dietary needs into consideration when placing new menu items on our menu. Another important aspect we pay close attention to is seasonality. We use fresh, organic produce in our menu and have to use foods that are readily available and let’s be honest, more tasty as they grow in season.

How often do you change your menu?
Quinn: We like to offer food items that reflect the seasons, so we tend to offer two menus a year, a spring/summer and a fall/winter menu.

What is your favorite item on your menu?
Quinn: It’s hard to find a favorite item, but without a doubt our jackfruit has a lot of interest from our customers. We have used jackfruit in several dishes and people love it.

Do you grow your own produce? If not, do you purchase from local vendors?
Quinn: As running a business is rather time consuming, unfortunately we don’t grow our own produce. We do however have weekly certified organic produce deliveries to ensure freshness and quality. During the growing season in our area we do support local farmers who grow with organic standards.

What makes All Good Things unique to the area?
Quinn: All Good Things is unique because of the food we carry, the close relationships we have with our customers and the message we represent- to support local. In addition to our food menu we do offer local, pasture-raised meat, grass fed dairy, organic produce, natural groceries and locally made items from artisans from our community. Numerous times throughout the year we offer juice cleanses to customers. We use 100% organic fruits and vegetables and use a cold-press method to ensure there is very little nutrient loss. The cleanses consist of 6- 16 oz drinks a day which help to “reset” and balance your body.

screen-shot-2016-12-06-at-6-04-39-pm

All Goods Things has a great shopping area with items for your pantry!

As someone who has tried the majority of the items on the All Good Things menu, I have to share my favorite: this Quinoa salad! I love eating it with one of their grilled cheese sandwiches on semolina bread! I’m also a huge fan of their jackfruit tacos and their mocha frappe smoothie! They Nice cream is also a great sweet treat….it inspired my own Nice Cream recipe that I make for myself when I’m not back at my mother’s.

I encourage you to check out this small business and grab lunch. Their menu is fantastic, their customer service is great, and whether or not your goal is to eat healthy, you will be feeding your body a delicious meal made from quality ingredients that is good for you. If you have an upcoming event and want to host it at the restaurant, All Good Things even has special event menus and rates!

I’m so thankful that my mother suggested All Good Things to me and can’t wait to hear what you think of it when you visit! Make sure you tag me in a post or send me what you tried!

Just call me President Squash

More like President of the Squash fan club!

Over the last year I have become particularly found of the squash family….why I avoided it for so long beats me. I am consistently integrating spaghetti squash and acorn squash into my meal plan, but it was only recently that I gave their sister, butternut squash, a chance.

Best. Decision. Ever.

I’ve been making this recipe for awhile and wanted to share with you all! It is great for Fall, for those of you doing the 21 Day Fix and needing to get your green containers in, or anyone looking for a great addition to your table at Thanksgiving in a few weeks. You know why I love it? I kind of feel like I’m eating a carb (sweet potato), but I’m not! Trickery at its finest!

Here’s what you need:

-1 large butternut squash
-1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
-1 1/2 tablespoons EVOO
-1 1/2 tablespoons pure maple syrup

To prepare, you first want to skin the squash. I cut the top and bottom off with a sharp knife, then I use a vegetable peeler to remove the rest of the skin. Rumor has it that Costco has butternut squash already peeled and cut up if you want to skip this step.

Screen Shot 2016-11-04 at 8.37.23 PM.png

Such a beautiful color!

After you have skinned the squash, preheat your oven. You can do this before if you want; honestly it does not matter. I also prepare my baking sheet at this time. I’ve found that I prefer lining the sheet with a piece of parchment paper as opposed to spraying it with a cooking spray.

Screen Shot 2016-11-04 at 8.37.36 PM.png

Make sure you scoop out the seeds….no one likes seeds with their squash…at least not in this case. Cut into chunks.

screen-shot-2016-11-04-at-8-37-43-pm

After cutting up your squash, drizzle with the EVOO, Maple Syrup, and Cinnamon. Bake for 40 minutes at 400 degrees. I rotated my baking sheet halfway through just to make sure everything was cooking evenly. Serve with whatever you want, and ENJOY!

Screen Shot 2016-11-05 at 4.11.03 PM.png

So tasty….and good for you!

More coconut, please!

This weekend I wrapped up my meal planning and prep early so I could watch the World Series game and get caught up on my emails. Usually I love to prep while watching a show or two (it’s a great way to motivate yourself if you know you are doing something you need to do with your health while indulging in a little tv), but tonight I didn’t want to miss a pitch!

Last week I stuck to my meal plan for the most part….which honestly was very surprising. Since yesterday would’ve been my dad’s birthday, I was fearful that I would spend the day eating my feelings because sometimes that happens with grief. Other than a piece of the little birthday cake my mom made to accompany the dinner she made (one of my dad’s favorites…..salmon burgers, green beans, and mashed sweet potatoes), I stayed on track. I’m proud of myself for that!

Here’s a look at what’s on my plate for the first week of November!

mealplanoct31

Breakfasts: My usual Southwest Cups because I just love them and an omelette tomorrow to use up the spinach I have left over. I’m trying out a new recipe this week…healthy chicken and waffles! Don’t worry, I will share if it turns out ok!

Lunches: I’m president of the Ahi Tuna fan club right now, so that’s one of my lunch options, as well as Beast Egg Salad. I think I am just in Beast mode since we announced on Saturday that THE BEAST himself, Sagi Kalev, is coming to Cleveland in January! Beast Egg Salad was one of my favorites during Body Beast. I’m also making Chicken Parm (from the Fixate cookbook) and pairing it with spaghetti squash! If you want to come to our Sagi event, you can purchase tickets HERE!

Dinners: Last week I mentioned I was making a new recipe, coconut crusted chicken. I can’t lie…it was delicious! If you love coconut, you need to try this recipe….I’m sharing it below! I’m bringing it back this week! You probably will notice the healthy chipotle bowl….yes, you can make chipotle healthy! It’s all about portions and healthier choices (Just say No to Sour Cream)!

chicken
The only thing you aren’t seeing broken down is Sunday; since I will be at my friend Jodi’s for a party I’m not sure what my options will be. However, I can tell you that I will be making wise choices and making sure I’m not abusing any containers!

This is a big week…..Core de Force launches tomorrow!!! EEK! I am so excited! Nothing helps me zero in on my nutrition like a brand new program to dedicate myself to! I cannot wait to get it and begin!

Remember….tomorrow may be Halloween, but that doesn’t mean that you should overindulge in mini candy bars. Make smart choices…those little things are the devil! And those calories add up fast!

Core de Whattttttttt? Here’s the Info you need to know!

Finally!

We are getting closer and closer to the highly anticipated release of the new home workout program Core de Force, and my excitement is off the charts!

Those who follow me on Facebook know that I have been looking forward to this since I learned of it back in July at our annual Coach Summit, and I think it is safe to say many others are as well! This program brings a fresh new perspective to home workouts by combining boxing with kickboxing and Muay Thai…who wouldn’t love that?

As a fitness and wellness coach, I am always anxious to try out a new program to see how it works and who it can best assist when it comes to my clients. For those of you who are looking to get a jump start on the holidays or are wanting a new program to shake up your workout routine, here’s a little more info on this program, set to be released on October 31st.

What is Core de Force?

As I mentioned, a mix of Muay Thai, kickboxing, and boxing inspired this workout, which requires ZERO equipment….just your body. Core de Force is a month long program, and the daily workouts feature three minute rounds that include cardio spikes, bodyweight training, boxing moves, combo moves, and Muay Thai. Workouts vary in time between 30 minutes and 45 minutes, and there are multiple workouts you rotate between during the course of the program. These workouts include: MMA Shred, MMA Speed, MMA Power, MMA Plyo, Dynamic Strength, Power Sculpt, MMA Mashup, and Core on the Floor. You also have an Active Recovery workout to help your body recover and a Core de Relief 5 minute stretch session before bed. There are three additional advanced workouts once you complete the program that can you choose to include: MMA Kick Butt, Agility Power, and Agility Strength,

What is Muay Thai?

Developed in Thailand over a thousand years ago, Muay Thai focuses on uses the entire body as a weapon utilizing close-combat techniques. Rooted in ancient boxing, its purpose was to assist soldiers when they became disarmed using an eight point system: feet, knees, fists, and elbows. In time it developed into a popular sport.

Who should do Core de Force?

Everyone!!!! As with the rest of Beachbody’s programs, there is a modifier for the program if you are a beginner, so don’t be afraid of trying it. As you get stronger, you can increase the intensity  and speed of your workouts. This is a great program for anyone who likes boxing, wants to tone up (especially in the core), or loves intensity…….I’m raising my hand because we all know I love intense workouts.

You can do this! You just have to be willing to start!

What kind of meal plan comes with Core de Force?

Core de Force follows the portion fix, so my 21 Day Fix, 22 Minute Hardcorps, and Cize graduates will have no issues adjusting to this plan. You won’t get a set of portion containers with the program, but I can help you order them if you need the set or want more! The food plan is very easy to follow, but don’t worry…if you get confused I am here to help you with all of it.

Is there any way to try it?

YES! There was a sneak peek earlier in the month, but there’s some good news….you can try it out again on October 24th! How? If you are a Beachbody On Demand subscriber, you already have access! If you haven’t tried it, it’s super easy…..Click Here to get your free 30 day trial. On Demand is my best friend….since I am on the go a lot I love having access to all of my workout programs on my iPad, cell phone, or laptop. It’s also the best bang for your buck if you are shoppertunistic like me!

Check out my sneak peek at Core de Force here!

Where can I buy this program?

From a Team Beachbody Coach! If you don’t have one already, I would love to help you! As your coach, I am able to link arms with you virtually and help you from start to finish as you begin this program regardless of where you are located. We can craft meal plans together, establish an accountability plan to keep you on track, even grocery shop and meal prep together if you are close. My support goes far beyond the Core de Force program; as your coach you gain exclusive access to all of my online groups for as long as you need them and me. I can also help you save money on the products you love that can help you on your journey!

How much does this program cost?

There are several options when purchasing the Core de Force program, but the best option for you when it comes to value and results is the bundled package, which is available to you on October 31st. With the bundled package you get:

-The entire Core de Force workout program
-Nutrition Guide
-A month of Shakeology in the flavor(s) of your choice
-Core de Force program guide
-30 Days of Beachbody on Demand
-Access to unlimited one on one coach support

Interested in this awesome new workout?

I would like to invite you to be a part of my exclusive Core de Force test group that will kick off on November 7th! I love test groups because they are a way for me to be right beside my challengers experiencing a program for the first time. I haven’t led one since Master’s Hammer and Chisel released last year….so to say I am ready for this is an understatement.

What are the requirements for the test group?

-All participants will commit to both the Core de Force program and Shakeology to be in the group.

-Each participant will have ME as their coach. If you are working with another coach already, I encourage you to reach out to them so they can plug you into one of their groups. Sorry, no coaches, please.

-You will participate in my private online Facebook group and be willing to log your workouts and daily food activity so I can best assist you in achieving the results you want.

***All test group participants will get a special gift from me: Beachbody Energize…my favorite pre workout and one that you most definitely will want while doing Core de Force!

Pretty little fridge.

(I envision the scene from Dumb and Dumber with the bird when I say that).

Sundays are one of my favorite days for so many reasons, especially this time of year with football (Go Steelers) and lots of fun Fall events. I love the chill vibe of the day and knowing that my actions are setting me up for a week of success.

I know a lot of people find it strange, but I feel so much better when I am taking steps to make sure I am having a successful week. What does this involve? It involves things like grocery shopping, meal prepping for the week, establishing when I am going to do my workouts each day, and what goals I have for the week.

Goal setting is something I have always done, even as a young girl. I love making lists and crossing things off as I complete the tasks. As I have gotten older I have realized more and more how important it is to be organized, not just because I like crossing off completed tasks each day, but because having a sense of organization keeps me sane!

Sunday mornings involve a lot of reflection for me. I think about how the previous week went, I think about how I want the upcoming week to go, and I think about what I want to accomplish. I listen to personal development in my office while sipping coffee and listening to my dogs (and husband) snore. It’s my favorite “Me” time.

I think it is easy to say that meal prepping is one of my favorite parts about Sunday. Yes, i actually ENJOY it! Food is the one area that if I don’t plan it out I end up making lotsssss of bad decisions. LOTS. I’ve talked about my process before….I’ve run free informational groups on how I prep and prepare….but it is always worth a little revisiting in my book!

My usual routine goes like this:

FRIDAY: Plan out what meals I want for the upcoming week/check out grocery store sales/draft meal plan. This involves checking my social calendar so I know if I will be at meetings, out to eat, etc.

SATURDAY: Grocery Shop or hit farmer’s markets.

SUNDAY: Prepare everything for the week.

This week I was a little bit ahead of schedule and got everything prepped and ready last night so I could focus completely on my team and some upcoming trainings/groups today. We have a lot going on over here at Sparkle HQ, and it is exciting!

Here is a look at my meal plan for the week:

Since I started my No Crumb Left Behind 21 Day Fix informational group today I have the meal plan color coded to show them how to look at their meals and meal plans. Look confusing to you? Hopefully not! The colors each represent a different food group. (Let me know if you need help with your own meal plan…I can help you make sense of it)! It doesn’t matter what workout program I am doing….I utilize the Fix meal plan for everything!

I’ve gotten a lot of feedback from readers about how it helps to see my meal plan each week, so my goal is to post it for you every Sunday to help give you some ideas for your own meal plan. Eating healthy does not have to be boring or bland….I always love the meals I make and never feel like I am depriving myself. That’s important when you love food!

Meal Plan 10-17.png

Here is a look at how my fridge looks after prep. Lots of containers in there…the only thing NOT mine is the takeout container on the top shelf…that’s Kyle’s leftover sandwich from Melt Bar and Grill. Having things portioned and ready to grab saves me so much time, energy, and money, plus it keeps me on track.

Have a plan, work a plan, my peeps.

Now go get working on your plan so you can have a successful week, too!
