Well, hello Mustard. So nice to meet you! Welcome to my life.
And then cherubs appeared with their harpsichords and a lovely ballad started to play……
That’s pretty much how my lunch went today.
To be fair to those of you who do not follow, I do not like condiments. I’m not into mustard, ketchup, BBQ sauce, salad dressing, ranch…none of them.
UNTIL TODAY. A few months back, I dabbled with mustard. It was a brief encounter…I wasn’t sure if I was into it or not, but I gave it a try.
This morning I was running behind so I didn’t have time to pack a lunch, meaning I had to actually go out and get food. I haven’t been a big fan of doing that since I amended my eating habits back in January, but every once in a while I get lazy and have to. On lazy days I usually head to my favorite place: Honeybaked Ham. I like going there because it is never busy, the food is good, they have great lunch specials (you can get a lunch combo for only $5.99!), and they have a fireplace. I love peace and quiet on my lunch break, and any place that allows me to read while eating in front of a fireplace is a real winner in my book.
During my little lunch date with myself, I discovered that my sandwich was made incorrectly. I had asked for no mustard and tomato, but there definitely was a condiment present. Instead of going up for a new ham and brie, I decided to suck it up and try it. And guess what??? I freakin loved it! It wasn’t your usual mustard because it was a tad bit tangy, but I didn’t care. I strongly recommend it…definitely katetastic.
As a creature of habit who dislikes change, I am proud of myself for trying something new. You can think it is silly, but I like to celebrate the small victories in my life, and today I am glad I let mustard win.
